2020/2021 Averroes Academy
Engage in a stimulating policy program
The Arab Center for Research launched the Averroes Academy for democracy in 2014 with the aim to contribute to the policy discussions across countries of the MENA region. Each year, the academy welcomes young participants from civil society organizations and academia to help sharpen their skills to engage in policy discussions in their countries through a one-year mixed program of workshops, trainings and webinars. Our participants were able following the program to write policy briefs on different policy issues impacting the region from which inclusive economic development, democratization and integration of refugees. The program has also been an excellent opportunity to bring together young civil society leaders and researchers with the aim to create a new culture of policy engagement.
Today, the pandemic, the increased demand to attend the Averroes Academy as well as mobility issues facing participants from war zones in the MENA region made us rethink the program. We are adapting the program to a digital format by creating a dedicated online platform. We are also moving beyond the training component to a three-level program; Dialogue, Network and Policy program.
